For the past 8 years, I have been struggling with this weird eye thing in my right eye. At first, the diagnosis was dry-eye syndrome. Eye doctor put some sort of a plug in one of my tear ducts. A year later, I get a reoccurrence. Get more antibiotic/steroid drops and it goes away. Flares up a couple times a year then goes away on its own. November of 2018 it gets really bad. I start having flareups to the point of having to take off work. The pain is like a combination of BBQ smoke in your eyes and sawdust.
The infection never really cleared and I was finally referred to an ophthalmologist. They cannot figure out what is wrong. They keep diagnosing as "conjunctivitis." Well sure, any swelling of that area of the eye is exactly that. I could not work because looking up was painful and the constant watering of my eye made me have to constantly clean my glasses. Pink eye (conjunctivitis) apparently is not a disabling condition and my short-term disability was denied. Let me see you try and be nice and click links and troubleshoot a cell phone with a stick in your eye! You just want to swish everyone away from you.
My ophthalmologist filled out the paperwork incorrectly. Apparently, she has never had a stick in her eye. She referred me back to my GP and said I should get a CT scan. One of the partners in her office told me it was fibromyalgia related. Say what? Why ONLY my right eye?
I have not had a regular doc in forever. I was always seen at a University clinic. Found a family doctor through my insurance and scheduled an appointment. Here is a kid younger than my oldest brand new to a practice coming from a doc-in-the-box situation. He was sympathetic to my plight and agreed to schedule a CT scan. He said if CT comes out normal, he will refer me to EENT. I told him there are other issues on my right side. I cannot have my hair touching my face. I cannot tell you how many hairs I have chopped off because it feels like it is touching my face. My right ear is constantly in mild pain, stuffy, runny, and rings. Will anybody figure out what is wrong? I know I have watched way too much "Monsters Inside Me."
I am getting quite depressed over the whole thing. Can therapy help me? Sure if the therapy includes fixing this eye that is still painful, watering, and irritated. How do I still crochet? It is not as bad when looking down. That is my only escape. I still have to constantly clean my glasses and rub my eye. I blink one hundred thousand times a day.
